I have to say that I am loving being a student again (I never thought I would say that!). Yesterday we had the second session of the SUNY course. I’m interested. I’m reading more. I’m finishing my homework (just posted it)! This week was all about Bloom’s DIGITAL Taxonomy and the ISTE NETS (that’s International Society for Technology in Education National Educational Technology Standards – gulp). Am getting used to all the new acronyms and vocabulary. The more I learn, the more I want to learn. I loved the way that everything yesterday was all about learning value. Yes, there are many cool web tools that students could be introduced to, but if there is no real, relevant LEARNING happening then technology should not be used just for the sake of coolness. I feel that I have suddenly become a lot more focused on that. Learning value, learning value, learning value – my new mantra. It is going to take me a while to internalise the Blooms and ISTE order/layers/standards, but I figure that if I keep referring to them as much as possible eventually they will become second nature.
