Loved the snowball analogy that Dave Burgess gave during the first #IMMOOC video. Pack it tight. Work tight.

Well, I’m hoping that my small change will snowball into something much, much bigger. My small change is starting in my Grade 2 classroom. I hate our book corner. These are the ‘before’ pictures (horrific, I know):

Step 1: Today I started the process of transforming this space by asking my students about it:

Pretty amazing answers. Not sure about a TV (or a couch), but we can probably sort the rest!

Step 2: I’ve left a suggestion jar in said book corner for students to put in their ideas about how we can transform the space. I’ve told them we will look at all the ideas next week.

In the meantime, I’m hoping to go shopping over the weekend to purchase some nice African baskets that we can sort all the books into. I’m envisioning that we will be getting rid of a whole heap of books – there are just WAYYYYY too many.
