Personal inquiry question (that will run through all units):

How can I be a more effective technology integration coach?

Personal Learning Intention for Unit 1:

To figure out what is meant by ‘transformational coaching’.

Unit 1 Insights into Personal Inquiry Question:

The question was easy to identify. I’ve not been feeling good about my role for some time. Many things are not ‘sitting right’ with me. At one point I really started doubting myself and there was a lot of negative self-talk. I know that it is not ALL me. But I am going to work my hardest to improve, no matter what. Doing ‘just OK’ has never sat well with me. I feel that the Harvard Leaders of Learning course has given me a good regrounding. I’m hoping THIS course will help me with the more practical aspects.

Reflection on Intention for Unit 1:

I found a lot of similarities between ‘transformational coaching’ and the Cognitive Coaching course I took last year, particularly during the role play video and watching transformational coaching in action. What I liked about the approach described in this current course is the reference to “the three Bs” (behaviours, beliefs, way of being).

“Our way of being often shapes our beliefs, which then fuels certain behaviours. Without attending to ways of being and beliefs and behaviours, our coaching may not be transformational.”

I noticed that setting my intention yesterday really helped me to sustain my focus on that intention. It ensured that I kept listening and reading until I had achieved a decent, initial, understanding of transformational coaching.
